Extreme H joins the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association to accelerate hydrogen development

London, UK, July 3, 2026: Extreme H has officially joined the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association (IHFCA), strengthening its commitment to accelerating the development and adoption of hydrogen fuel cell technology beyond motorsport.
The organisation behind the world's first fully hydrogen-powered motorsport was formally welcomed as the Association's newest member during the recently staged HydrogenSphere2026, a global gathering of policymakers, investors, hydrogen companies and industry experts focused on advancing the hydrogen economy and fostering international collaboration.
Launched by China SAE, FORVIA, Toyota, Hyundai, SAIC, Sinopec and Valterra Platinum amongst others, the IHFCA is an international non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting worldwide hydrogen collaboration and the commercialisation of fuel cell technologies.
Today, the Association comprises 1120 members across 22 countries and plays a leading role in establishing global standards across the hydrogen value chain, supporting policy and regulatory development, operating a dedicated think tank and consulting arm, facilitating international collaboration and developing technology roadmaps for the sector.
Extreme H will share key learnings through operational experience gained through deploying hydrogen fuel cell technology in some of the world's most challenging environments, whilst also bringing together key players across the hydrogen sector, to accelerate innovation across the wider hydrogen ecosystem.
Ms. Ju Wang, Secretary General of IHFCA said: “We are very pleased to officially welcome Extreme H as the newest member of the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association. Extreme H represents one of our most unique and forward-thinking members to date, by bringing hydrogen fuel cell technology out of the laboratory and into some of the world's most demanding settings.
“Their engineering insights will be of major interest to the wider fuel cell industry, and we look forward to the collaboration with our members to fast-track the global transition toward clean, sustainable energy."
Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme H, added: "We are delighted to become a member of the International Hydrogen Fuel Cell Association and to join an organisation bringing together many of the world's leading hydrogen innovators. Extreme H was created to demonstrate that hydrogen fuel cell technology can perform in the most demanding environments, providing a real-world testbed that accelerates innovation and builds confidence in the technology.
"Joining the IHFCA enables us to contribute those learnings to the wider hydrogen community while collaborating with industry leaders across the entire hydrogen network. Together, we can help accelerate the development, commercialisation and global adoption of hydrogen as a clean energy solution."
Looking ahead, Extreme H will work alongside fellow IHFCA members to share operational insights from competitive motorsport and support greater collaboration between industry, policymakers and innovators.
Building on the collaboration, the FIA Extreme H World Cup plans to convene a group of leading hydrogen stakeholders during the second edition of the race event this October, creating a platform for members of the hydrogen ecosystem to connect, exchange knowledge and explore opportunities for collaboration.
