Extreme H Returns to Qiddiya City: Dates Confirmed for the Second FIA Extreme H World Cup

LONDON, UK / RIYADH, KSA, 13 MAY 2026: Extreme H is excited to announce the official dates for the second instalment of the FIA Extreme H World Cup. Returning to Qiddiya City in Saudi Arabia, the race will run from 29 to 31 October 2026.
As the world’s first and only hydrogen-powered motorsport World Cup, Extreme H is thrilled to return to its flagship location at Qiddiya City – Saudi Arabia's visionary "City of Play" and one of the world's most ambitious entertainment, sports and cultural destinations. Both organisations are united by a shared commitment to redefining the future of sport and entertainment through technology, experiences, and sustainability.
"The inaugural FIA Extreme H World Cup was proof that we could combine the raw ferocity of world-class motor sport with a future powered by clean energy,” said Alejandro Agag, Founder and Chairman of Extreme H. “This second chapter, together with the FIA, our partners and the support of our host Qiddiya City, is about accelerating that vision as we continue to redefine the limits of what’s possible, for our pioneering technologies and our boundary-breaking drivers.”
Extreme H’s return coincides with an extraordinary moment in Qiddiya City's development. The race takes place against the backdrop of one of the most ambitious new global destinations; a city rising from the Saudi desert that is already welcoming the world. Six Flags Qiddiya City opened its gates to its first guests in December 2025, with the Middle East’s largest water theme park, Aquarabia recently following suit. Meanwhile, work continues at pace on the revolutionary Speed Park Track, an F1-grade circuit that will be one of the most technically extraordinary motorsport venues ever built, along with the Sir Nick Faldo signature-designed 18-hole championship golf course that will open later this year.
"The return of the FIA Extreme H World Cup to Qiddiya City for the second time reflects the city's growing reputation as a global destination for motorsport and world-class sports events,” said Abdullah Aldawood, Managing Director, Qiddiya Investment Company. “It reaffirms that hosting the inaugural event was a landmark moment in demonstrating Qiddiya City's capacity to stage innovative sports events that bring together competition, sustainability, and the technologies of tomorrow.
"By hosting events of this calibre, Qiddiya City continues to strengthen its role as a national and global platform for entertainment, sports, and culture, advancing the goals of Saudi Vision 2030 and elevating the Kingdom's profile on the international sports stage."
The Extreme H track sits within the wider vision of Qiddiya City, which is a destination designed to attract millions of visitors and demonstrate that cutting-edge sustainable technology and high-stakes racing can be as thrilling as they are forward-thinking.
Extreme H leads the way as the world’s only gender-equal motorsport discipline, where male and female drivers compete together for the same honours. This competitive parity turns every session into a tactical battle of milliseconds, and with the field more closely matched than ever, the second iteration is set to be the closest yet.
Through intense races which push the hydrogen-powered Pioneer 25 race car to its limits, the World Cup serves as a high-speed laboratory to progress the future of mobility and showcases the performance of hydrogen fuel cells in the most testing environments on Earth.
H.E. Mohammed Ben Sulayem, President of the FIA. “The return of the FIA Extreme H World Cup for its second edition marks another important step in the development of hydrogen-powered motor sport. This competition provides an important platform to test hydrogen fuel cell technology in a demanding, high-performance environment, while supporting the FIA’s wider commitment to innovation, sustainability and safety.
“Equally, its sporting format remains an important part of its identity, with male and female drivers competing together for the same honours. This reflects the FIA’s continued ambition to support competitions that explore new technologies while promoting greater opportunity and inclusion across motorsport.”
The spotlight will fall on inaugural World Cup winners Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor, who represented local outfit Jameel Motorsport in 2025. Following their triumphant victory at the event last year, the pair will be looking to defend their hard-fought title against a world-class international field.
Eng. Mansour Bin Ali Al-Mokbel, CEO of Saudi Motorsport Company, commented: “The return of Extreme H to Qiddiya City reflects Saudi Arabia’s growing role in shaping the future of global motorsport. This next chapter reflects a shared vision between Saudi Motorsport Company and Extreme H to advance clean energy innovation, sustainable mobility and next-generation racing. As a cornerstone of this vision, Qiddiya City provides a unique environment where technology, competition and fan experience come together at scale.
“By combining Saudi Motorsport Company’s local expertise with Extreme H’s global platform, this collaboration will support the continued growth of the World Cup across the Kingdom while creating new opportunities for partners, fans and emerging Saudi talent. as Saudi Motorsport Company continues to lead the advancement of motorsport in Saudi Arabia.”
The 2026 event will feature the multi-disciplinary format that has made Extreme H one of motorsport's most compelling propositions. Time Trials will see teams post precision course runs to secure vital seeding positions, before giving way to a knockout series of Head-to-Head duels in the ultimate test of nerve. Last year, the margin between glory and defeat was just 0.082 seconds in a breathtaking photo finish.
The competition then builds to its climax through intense wheel-to-wheel racing, culminating in a spectacular eight-car World Cup Final where strategy, composure, and raw speed will determine the champions.
Full details of the competing teams and driver pairings will be confirmed in the coming months as Extreme H prepares to deliver another round of thrilling off-road racing.
