Saudi Motorsport Company and Extreme H Announce Strategic Partnership to Drive the Future of Hydrogen Racing in the Kingdom

LONDON, UK / JEDDAH, KSA, 22 April 2026: Saudi Motorsport Company (SMC) and Extreme H today announced a strategic commercial partnership together, as part of their joint efforts to advance the innovation of sustainable technologies whilst further establishing Saudi Arabia as a global motorsport hub.
Extreme H is the organisation behind the world’s first hydrogen-powered motorsport, the FIA Extreme H World Cup, where both men and women battle it out as equals across a gruelling three-day racing programme in some of the world’s most extreme locations. The two entities share a strong history, with Saudi Motorsport Company serving as a foundational partner of the World Cup’s predecessor, Extreme E, for which Saudi Arabia served the races as a flagship host location, and continues to do so for Extreme H.
The partnership will see SMC and Extreme H work closely to strengthen the World Cup’s commercial presence across the Kingdom. By leveraging Saudi Motorsport Company’s extensive local expertise and Extreme H’s global reach, the collaboration will unlock new opportunities for partners, stakeholders, and fans.
Commenting on the partnership, Eng. Mansour Almokbel, Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Motorsport Company, said: “Following the success of the inaugural FIA Extreme H World Cup, we are stepping into the future with even greater ambition. As the races continue to evolve from electric to hydrogen power, they reflect a shared commitment to innovation and to advancing sustainable solutions for future generations.”
He added: “We are proud of our strategic partnership with Extreme H, which marks an important step in advancing our vision to support clean energy and drive meaningful innovation. Saudi Arabia will continue to lead in this journey, helping to shape a new era of sustainable motorsport.”
Ali Russell, Managing Director of Extreme H, said: "I am incredibly excited to continue our extensive relationship with Saudi Motorsport Company. We have built a fantastic foundation together over the years, and I am proud for Extreme H to be a key part of Saudi Arabia's vibrant motorsport landscape. As we move into this next era of hydrogen power, our partnership with SMC will be vital in demonstrating the potential of sustainable technology on a global stage."
It is worth noting that the Saudi Motorsport Company (SMC) was established in 2021 by the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) to bring all motorsport activities in the Kingdom under one unified platform, and to lead the organisation and promotion of events across Saudi Arabia.
Today, SMC plays a central role in shaping Saudi Arabia’s position as a global motorsport destination, with a portfolio that includes the Formula 1 STC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, Dakar Rally, ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, FIA Extreme H World Cup, Jeddah GT, and the FIA World Rally Championship (WRC).
