Victory for Jameel Caps Off Emotional Journey For Hansen and Taylor

London, United Kingdom, 22 October, 2025: After crossing the line to win the inaugural FIA Extreme H World Cup title with Jameel Motorsport and Molly Taylor, Kevin Hansen called it “the biggest achievement in my career”.

Not only did he have to contend with the pressure of following through with Jameel’s stellar performance in the preliminary rounds – which put him and Taylor atop of the World Cup Qualifying Points standings – but he was doing it in Saudi Arabia for the first and only Saudi team to ever compete in an ‘Extreme’ event.

“The amount of pressure was incredible,” Hansen said. “Having executed so well for three days, everything was there to lose.

“So the pressure on the start, I've never experienced the amount of pressure. The people who are racing us are some of the best in the world.”

In a typically action-packed race, Hansen made a great getaway in the Jameel car to breakout from the drama behind and dominate from the front. The win was an assured one, but for the Swede, it was more than just a convincing race win or the result of the hard work he and Taylor had put in over the course of the event. For Hansen, it was the realisation of a dream.

“I've been fighting for a world title, and when I lost [the World Rallycross title] in ‘19 it was awful,” he said. “And then fighting for it since, every year. Things just let off, and it was incredible.”

It also brought success to the driver pairing that was leading the Extreme E standings in 2024 when the series made the decision to pivot its focus to Extreme H and deliver the successful event that culminated earlier this month.

“It's redemption from a title that was taken away from us, I feel in a way,” Hansen added. “For sure, it sweetens that.”

That emotion wasn’t restricted to Hansen’s side of the garage either. Taylor finished the race, and crossed the line with tears in her eyes as the gravity of the duo’s achievement hit home.

“To sort of finish where we started and to take the very first Extreme H World Cup, it’s something I’ll remember forever,” she said. “It's a bit difficult to put into words. We were just putting everything into it.

“I've never been that emotional before, ever, when I've won a race before. This one just hit differently.”

As well as picking up where they left off, and etching their names in history as the first-ever FIA Extreme H World Cup winners, Taylor enjoyed the unique achievement of adding to her victories in the first-ever Extreme E race in 2021, and that year’s full-season title alongside former team-mate Johan Kristoffersson, too.

“It feels pretty good,” she said. “In the very first Extreme E race, when we didn't know what we were in for, that'll always be very special. Johan did a mega job and I had this huge gap with all the dust, and it was probably a bit easier on my side.

“I feel like this year each driver really has to contribute equally. And I think that's one of the great things with the evolution of the championship. You can't write off one driver's skill. You really need to have both of you performing at the best possible level.”

But while the victory in the eight-car final cemented the title, Hansen and Taylor had to get there by navigating the multi-discipline format. It’s something that Taylor says sweetens the deal, because the team had to be at the top of their game for three days, and adapt to different scenarios at the same time.

“I think that makes it almost more special, because there were so many different elements you had to execute,” she said. “You couldn't just be strong in one field. And I think that's where the team has just done such an incredible job. We've been able to execute.

“In the head-to-head races the margins were nothing, so you're absolutely on the limit. And then the pressure to get the points in the races, when you never know what's going to happen, to be able to execute in all those different styles feels incredible.”
