Jameel Motorsport Wraps Up Top Qualifier Spot For World Cup Final After Multi-Car Races

Jameel Motorsport’s Kevin Hansen and Molly Taylor locked in pole position for the FIA Extreme H World Cup Final later today following Multi-Car races this morning.
The Saudi team won the first heat of the day, following a close battle with Team KMS' Johan Kristoffersson and Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky at the start. However contact in the first turn between the two led to a puncture for the KMS car and when Kevin Hansen moved the Jameel car to the fore on lap 2 and never looked back.
In the second round of heats, Jameel again had a closely-fought battle into the first time, this time with Team Hansen's Andreas Bakkerud and Catie Munnings, it was Team Hansen that prevailed though. That also opened the door for the Carl Cox Motorsport car of Timo Scheider and Klara Andersson to sneak by. Team Hansen won comfortably ahead of Carl Cox, with Jameel finishing third.
Kevin Hansen, driver for Jameel Motorsport, said: “It feels great to be top of the points going into the World Cup Final. It shows consistency, good performance across multiple different disciplines, so it’s great. Now we get the first grid pick for the race, we’ll try and find the best slot for the start and then we’ll go guns blazing in the race.”
Molly Taylor, driver for Jameel Motorsport, said: “I’m taking lots of confidence from the last few days. It’s just about trying to execute this afternoon. We’re ready for that and will keep our heads down, and try to do four really good laps.”
In the other heats ZEROID Motorsport's Fraser McConnell won in the first round ahead of Team Hansen and JBX – the car of Tommi Hallman and Christine GZ charging down the ZEROID machine right to the end only to drop down to third after getting a penalty for hitting a track marker – with the Carl Cox car failing to finish.
And in the second round, KMS bounced back from its first race drama to dominate, beating JBX, ZEROID, and Team EVEN (Ole Christian Veiby and Hedda Hosås), the latter's run hampered by a puncture.
Sitting atop of the World Cup Qualifying points standings, Jameel has first choice for grid position in the eight-car World Cup Final taking place later today. Team Hansen holds the second ranking, just two points behind, with Time Trial winners KMS third.
ZEROID ended the three discipline World Cup run in fourth, ahead of JBX, Carl Cox, EVEN, and Head-to-Head winners Team STARD (Patrick O’Donovan and Amanda Sorensen) in eighth.
